Taster sessions suitable for adults and children (age 10yrs+) who want to give sailing a try. Suitable for families. Emphasis on fun! Must be booked in advance.
No courses scheduled at present.
NEW FOR 2017!
On most Thursday evenings, 5.15-8.30pm, we'll be running training sessions for youth members and adult season ticket holders to learn to sail a singlehanded dinghy. Minimum requirement RYA Level 1 or Stage 2. Limited places and must be booked in advance for £2 per session.
If you are a proficient sailor, you may attend the session for recreational sailing without the need to book in advance for the usual session fee.
If you're a beginner, you will need to attend a course as listed above.
As a proficient sailor you will be reasonably competent at sailing a dinghy without an Instructor onboard and preferably hold the RYA Level 2 Dinghy Sailing certificate.
If you have not sailed with us before, due to the strong tidal flows of the river Thames, you will need to undergo a period of familiarisation with another of our experienced sailors in a crewed dinghy before you can sail alone.
Wednesdays: only during school term-time. No session on the following dates: 5 & 12 April, 31 May, 26 July to 30 August, 25th October.
Sundays: All year round recreational sailing and kayaking for proficient sailors and kayakers (subject to winter clothing regulations from November to March).
YOU MUST ARRIVE FOR THE START TIME OF THE SESSION. TIME AND TIDE WAIT FOR NO ONE!
Please note that if you are late, you may be turned away. Time and tide wait for no one!
You will need to bring:
Nobody will be allowed on the water without these.
The season begins on 01st April 2017. Kayaking and sailing continues throughout the winter on Sundays. Winter clothing regulations apply.
