The Upperdeckers Hub

Keep active at 60+.

A social and watersports club for over 60s. We encourage everyone from all sections of the community to join.

Regular meetings on Mondays throughout the year.

Fitness sessions by Sportworks.

When?

These sessions are temporarily suspended due to lack of funding.

How much does it cost?

£5 per visit.

You are most welcome to come along and see what goes on without going on the water. Join the group for a cup of tea to see your friends or make new friends, or just enjoy the tranquility of the river. You will not be charged for this.

There is a further charge for any RYA and or BC certificates gained.

What activities can I do?

Sportworks provide a gentle fitness session prior to the main event.

Sign up for afternoon watersports sessions (all waterborne sessions are led by experienced professional instructors).

Activities might include powerboat driving or kayaking. We provide all the gear including buoyancy aids but you will need to bring a full second change of clothing.

Enjoy time on the water.  (If that is not for you stay and relax on the balcony and take in the panoramic river views and the Nine Elms developments)

Activities operate on a first-come-first-served basis but we try to accommodate as many as possible.

For some it's as much about the social occasion as the watersports so come along, have a cuppa and a chat and see what goes on. Maybe you'll be persuaded to give the watersports a try, but do come and visit us.

How do I sign up?

  1. Register on this website which will provide us with your contact details.
  2. Book the sessions as listed in the Activities Schedule on this page.

Please note that if you are late, you may be turned away. Time and tide wait for no one!

You need to bring...

Nobody will be allowed on the water without the appropriate clothing!

Anything else?

The Upperdeckers is currently funded by a grant from Tachbrook, Churchill and Warwick Ward.

We have to actively seek funding to keep these sessions going so if you would like to help us do that, please contact us.
