Dear Members and Friends of the WBB
Thanks to the tremendous efforts of Adam and Pippa, along with a host of volunteers, the Base and boats have been brought back into operation. Three powerboats are being used, with the final preps and the installation of a new engine underway on the fourth. Both RIBs and four two hander dinghies are also now ready for action. And, as you’ll be aware, we have already started watersports sessions on scheduled Sundays and Tuesday evenings. The details of our new summer holiday programme is below.
But there is still much more to do, both to the building and to ready more boats for use. We also have to balance what we can afford to run in terms of sessional instructors until our usual funding streams and grants provision start to return. Subject to further announcements or policy changes from the government, we will be able to operate more freely from next Monday (19th July).
However, there is still a necessity to protect our staff as well as members and other Base users, and therefore we will not be operating an open door policy for the time being. Members will still be required to book for watersports sessions, and contact details will be logged on entry on a voluntary basis. However, whilst there will be no specific restriction on numbers, staff will retain the right to turn down a booking if they feel that numbers are becoming unmanageable. And finally, if you have booked and subsequently find you are not able to attend, please let staff know; this opens up a place for someone else.
